List View (Main Table)
-
The table displays all configurations with the following default columns: Configuration Name, Supported Device Models, Description, Tags, Configuration ID, Downlink, Port, Create Date, Last Modified, Last Modified by.
-
Column Configuration (Table Preferences):
- Click the gear icon to open the Table Preferences modal.
- Select which columns to show or hide (e.g., Configuration Name, Supported Device Models, Description, Tags, Configuration ID, Downlink, Port, Create Date, Last Modified, Last Modified by).
- Columns can be rearranged by dragging, hidden by deselecting, but resizing is not supported.
- Click Save to apply changes; Cancel to discard.
-
Search and Filter:
-
Use the Search bar to find configurations by Configuration Name.
-
Use the Supported Device Models filter dropdown to filter configurations by device models (e.g., Orca, Seal).
- Steps: Click the filter icon, select a device model, click Apply to filter, or Clear to reset.
- Expectations: Displays only configurations associated with the selected device model.
-
Use the Tags filter dropdown to filter configurations by tags.
- Steps: Click the filter icon, select tags, click Apply to filter, or Clear to reset.
- Expectations: Displays only configurations matching the selected tags.
-
Actions (Based on Permissions):
- Click the More Actions (…) button next to a configuration in the table to open a context menu with Edit and Delete options.
- Admins: Add, edit, or delete configuration.
- Standard Users: View configurations: edit or delete if granted explicit permissions.
-
Pagination: Adjust rows per page (e.g., 50) and navigate pages (e.g., 1 of 8) using the pagination controls at the bottom.
-
Conditions: You need admin permissions or explicit rights to add configurations.
Steps:
Click the Add Configuration button to open the Add Configuration modal.
Step 1: Add Configuration Details
- Configuration Name: Input the name of the configuration (e.g., “Restart Pelican Device”).
- Supported Device Models:**** Input the TEKTELIC device models compatible with this configuration (e.g., “Seal, Stork”).
- Downlink: Input the hexadecimal payload for the configuration command (e.g., “0x1A2B3C”).
- Port: Input the communication port number (e.g., “100”).
- Tags: Add optional tags to categorize the configuration (e.g., “tracking, outdoor”).
- Description: Input an optional description (e.g., “Configuration for outdoor asset tracking”).
Click Save to create the configuration or Cancel to discard.
Expectations: The new configuration is added to the system with the specified name, supported device models, downlink, port, tags, and description. It is immediately available for application to compatible TEKTELIC trackers or beacons. The configuration is listed on the Configurations page, ready for viewing, editing, or deletion.
Conditions: You need admin permissions or explicit rights to edit configurations. The configuration must already exist.
Steps:
Click the More Actions (…) button next to a configuration (e.g., “Restart Pelican Device”) in the table.
Select Edit from the context menu to open the Edit Configuration modal.
Step 1: Modify Configuration Details
-
Configuration Name: Modify the name (e.g., “Restart Stork Device”).
-
Supported Device Models: Update the TEKTELIC device models compatible with this configuration (e.g., “Seal, Stork”).
-
Downlink: Update the hexadecimal payload for the configuration command (e.g., “0x4D5E6F”).
-
Port: Update the communication port number (e.g., “199”).
-
Tags: Modify tags to categorize the configuration (e.g., “tracking, outdoor, v2”).
-
Description: Update the description (e.g., “Updated configuration for outdoor asset tracking”).
Click Save to confirm changes or Cancel to discard.
Expectations: The updated configuration reflects changes in the Configurations list, including its name, supported device models, downlink, port, tags, and description. The configuration remains available for application to compatible TEKTELIC trackers or beacons without affecting its previous applications.
Conditions: You need admin permissions or explicit rights to delete configurations.
Consequences: Deleting a configuration removes it from the system and prevents its application to trackers or beacons. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
Steps:
Click the More Actions (…) button next to a configuration (e.g., “Restart Stork Device”) in the table.
Select Delete from the context menu to open the Confirm Delete Configuration modal.
Review the warning about permanent deletion and its impacts.
Click Delete to confirm; Cancel to abort.
Expectations: The configuration is permanently removed from the system. It is marked as “(deleted)” in the status panel and on the details pages of associated trackers or beacons. To delete multiple configurations, select them in the table and follow the same process.
To enable device communication and allow downlink (DL) configuration to be sent from the application, additional steps must be completed on the Network Server.
Please refer to Network Server Configuration section to create the Data Converter and Integration.
Once the integration has been successfully created, please raise a ticket on the support portal https://knowledgehub.tektelic.com/ to complete the integration process.
Conditions: You need admin permissions or explicit rights to apply configurations. At least one TEKTELIC tracker or beacon must exist in the system.
Consequences: Applying a configuration updates the settings of selected trackers or beacons. Failed applications may require troubleshooting, and third-party beacons cannot be configured.
Steps:
Click the Devices or Beacons list to view available trackers or beacons.
Step 1: Apply Configuration to Devices
-
Select one or more devices from the Devices list using bulk select.
-
Click the configure option to open the Configure Devices modal, displaying:
- Device Name (e.g., “Tracker-001”)
- Device EUI (e.g., “AABBCCDDEEFF0011”
- Device Model (e.g., “Tundra”)
-
Filter, search, or remove devices as needed.
-
Select a configuration (e.g., “Restart Stork Device”).
-
Click Save to queue the configuration to the network server or click Cancel to discard at any time.
Step 2: Apply Configuration to Beacons
-
Select one or more TEKTELIC beacons from the Beacons list using bulk select. Third-party beacons trigger a warning and are removed; selecting only third-party beacons prevents configuration.
-
Click the configure option to open the Configure Beacons modal, displaying:
- Beacon Name (e.g., “Beacon-101”)
- Device EUI (e.g., “1122334455667788”)
- MAC Address (e.g., “00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E”)
- Beacon Model (e.g., “Pelican”)
-
Filter, search, or remove beacons as needed.
-
Select a configuration (e.g., “Restart Device”).
-
Click Save to queue the configuration to the network server or click Cancel to discard at any time.
Expectations: The selected configuration is applied to the chosen TEKTELIC trackers or beacons, updating their settings. Successful applications are queued to the network server, and a .CSV report details any failures. The updated devices or beacons continue operating with the new configuration settings.
