Figure 104

Expectations: The new asset type is added to the system with the specified name, tags, description, color, opacity, and icon (or default icon if none uploaded). It appears in the Asset Types list and is available for categorizing assets, enhancing map visualization.

Edit Asset Type

Conditions: You need admin permissions or explicit rights to edit asset types. The asset type must already exist.

Steps:****

Click the More Actions (…) button next to an asset type (e.g., “Cargo Container”) in the Asset Types table.

Select Edit from the context menu to open the Edit Asset Type modal.

Step 1: Modify Asset Type Details

  • Asset Type Name: Modify the name (e.g., “Freight Container”).
  • Tags: Update tags to categorize the asset type (e.g., “logistics, heavy, v2”).

Expectations: The updated asset type reflects changes in the Asset Types list, including its name, tags, description, color, opacity, and icon (or default icon if none uploaded). It remains available for categorizing assets, with updated map visualization.

Delete Asset Type

Conditions: You need admin permissions or explicit rights to delete asset types.

Consequences: Deleting an asset type removes it from the system, preventing its use for new assets. If associated assets exist and the user lacks sufficient permissions to their sites, deletion is blocked. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Steps:

Click the More Actions (…) button next to an asset type (e.g., “Cargo Container”) in the Asset Types table.

Select Delete from the context menu to open the Confirm Delete Asset Type modal.

Review the warning about permanent deletion and any restrictions due to associated assets.

Click Delete to confirm; Cancel to abort.

Figure 106

Expectations: If no assets are associated, the asset type is permanently removed from the system and no longer appears in the Asset Types list. If associated assets exist, a warning prevents deletion unless permissions are sufficient. To delete multiple asset types, select them in the table and follow the same process.
